What is a Tarot Reading?

A tarot reading is a tool to help you understand your position in life’s journey on a deeper level. This could mean asking the cards about your career and where it is taking you, if your current relationship is good for you, if you are making the right choices, etc. There are endless possible questions to ask the cards and it is a great way to get a deeper understanding of your life’s current path. It is truly a tool for healing, growth, and awakening your inner magic!

When I read Tarot for another person, I envision them, their energy, and their question through my third eye to get the clearest answer from the cards. I also give the most in depth description I can from your reading, as many people aren’t familiar with what each card means or how they play into each other.

When people think of receiving a reading, they might imagine the Hollywood version (some lady with a crystal ball) but this is not usually the case! Modern tarot readers like myself aren’t normally about the “show” of it all. A reading is truly about connecting a person to a higher self and helping them through life’s journey.

Personally when I read my cards, I am normally sitting comfortably with a cup of coffee in my pj’s — no fun show here!

How does Tarot work?

Tarot cards basically tell you a story to answer your question — for example, one small question could have one big answer, as just 3 cards can play into each other and paint you the bigger picture. They can show you things that you may not know, didn’t have that perspective of, and sometimes even things you didn’t want to face — but it’s all for a reason.

Tarot Cards are not magick on their own, it takes a person who is connected to their higher self and intuition to read the cards. I have been reading for about 4 years and my practice has evolved a lot over time, to the point where I am ready and able to read for others! However, tarot can be learned by anyone who is willing to commit to it.

Is Tarot…bad?

Despite popular myths and beliefs, tarot cards are not an evil tool. It is all about the beholder of the cards and how they choose to use them.

Personally, I pray to my Higher Power, my Spirit Guides, and my Angels before each reading to assure the cards are blessed and protected. (Those are my personal deities and beliefs, and every reader will have their own, too). I also ask that the cards are only used for their highest purpose and in positive light. Between each reading of a new person, I sage the cards to cleanse any energy (negative or positive) so that the next person can have the clearest reading possible, only meant for them.

If you are still suspicious of tarot cards, do more research online or through literature, as there are many people who have written about this exact question more in depth. Also feel free to contact me via email or (preferably) instagram message (@thegypsyblues) if you have any additional questions.
